de Lange collects Second-Team All-MSC, CoSIDA accolades

Shawnee State's Kevin de Lange has been racking up goals, assists, and overall points throughout the 2019 season.

On Friday evening, his efforts resulted in the senior racking up accolades off of the field.

de Lange, who leads the Bears with 15 goals, nine assists, and 39 points in 2019 as a sophomore forward, earned Second-Team All-Mid South Conference accolades on Friday evening, and on the same day, was officially named as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) NAIA Academic All-District 1 honoree.

The Netherlands native, who is one of only 13 players across the 22-state district to be named to the unit and one of only 48 players who play for NAIA units in the United States and in Canada to be named to the CoSIDA NAIA Academic All-District 1 list, not only leads Shawnee State in goals, assists, and points, but is the team's leader in shots (75), shots on goal (35), game-winning goals (five), and penalty kicks made, and is tied for the team lead in games played and started (18).

Those stats, which also led to his Second-Team All-MSC honors, aren't the only ones that stand out above the crowd. de Lange, who majors in Business Management, also holds the team's highest grade-point-average with a sterling 3.97 mark, and on top of that, serves as the team's captain despite being only of sophomore eligibility.

The reigning Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year, who added in his second Second-Team All-MSC accolades in as many seasons with Friday evening's honor, ranks eighth in the NAIA with his five game-winning goals and ranks 18th in the NAIA with his 15 goals and 39 points.

In addition to de Lange, fellow captain Chris Jones was named as the Champions of Character representative for Shawnee State at the Mid-South Conference banquet. The senior from Xenia, Ohio holds a 3.74 GPA and hasn't missed a single game while starting 16 games -- all of which while playing through various injuries -- for SSU.
