In most cases, weekends are usually filled with the utmost fun that one can have.
That will be no different this weekend as the men's basketball program at Shawnee State, along with the men's and women's soccer programs and the women's basketball program, will be participating in contests throughout at SSU as the Bears go to battle in several exciting matchups over the course of the weekend
Men's Basketball -- Sean Elliott Memorial Classic sponsored by Jimmy John's, Friday and Saturday
The men's basketball program at Shawnee State will be hosting a quartet of contests that truly go beyond basketball as DeLano Thomas' program plays host to the Sean Elliott Memorial Classic sponsored by Jimmy John's.
Four contests will be held throughout the weekend, with the Bears, along with Berkeley College (N.Y.), Midway (Ky.), and West Virginia Tech getting two guaranteed games apiece. All four games will feature video presentation by Stretch Internet at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/shawneest/, with the SSU contests featuring live play-by-play commentary.
The bouts, which will be held on Friday (5 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) are being held in memory of former Shawnee State men's basketball standout Sean Elliott, who embodied some of the best qualities that SSU had to offer with his passion for the game and his drive to become a better individual on a day-to-day basis. Elliott passed away at the age of 27 on June 15, 2015.
A full schedule of events are listed at the link below. The SSU Athletic Department, along with the SSU Office of Development and the SSU Men's Basketball program, would like to thank Jimmy John's, along with Holiday Inn-Downtown Portsmouth, Larry Moore's Sporting Goods, and Papa John's for their steadfast support of the Sean Elliott Memorial Classic.
