Garner Named Second Team All-MSC; Women's Soccer Have 10 Earn All-Academic

Bowling Green, Ky. – Michaela Garner (SR/Hebron, Ohio) was named second team All-Mid-South Conference at the MSC Women's Soccer Awards Banquet held on Wednesday night.

Garner started all 16 regular season games in goal for Shawnee State, playing 1427 minutes. Garner allowed 42 goals on the season, averaging 2.7 goals allowed per game. She had 152 saves on the season for a .784 save percentage. Garner also earned Mid-South Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, earning the award on September 3.

SSU also had 10 players earn Mid-South Conference All-Academic accolades. Garner was joined by Olivia Ball (JR/Greenup, Kentucky), Lindsay Bates (SO/Huntington, West Virginia), Destiny Chester (JR/Canal Winchester, Ohio), Charity Collins (JR/Ashland, Kentucky), Alison Cook (SR/Liberty Township, Ohio), Adrianna Johnson (SR/Clarksville, Ohio), Jill Kelly (JR/Germantown, Ohio), Sammi Love (SO/McArthur, Ohio) and Shawnacy McGuire (JR/Lucasville, Ohio) in winning the award. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be in their third semester at an institution of higher education, and must have a 3.25 GPA.

Shawnee State women's soccer kicks off the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Thursday, November 1, taking on Cumberland (Tenn.) at 4:00pm in Campbellsville. The tournament quarterfinals were moved to Campbellsville from Bowling Green High School due to inclement weather predicted for the Bowling Green area.
