Portsmouth, Ohio – Ashton Lovely (SR/Jamestown, Ohio) was named Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Lovely played twice over the weekend, scoring in double figures in both games. On Friday, Lovely had 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in Shawnee State's 110-37 dismantling of Kentucky Christian. Lovely followed that on Saturday with 10 points and eight rebounds against Northwestern Ohio.
Lovely is tied for second in points per game in the Mid-South, averaging 17.0 after the weekend. She is tied for fourth in rebounds per game, and currently has the conference's highest scoring game of the young season.
The award is the third of Lovely's career and the first of her season, along with being the first award given out by the Mid-South Conference so far. Lovely also won the award on February 27, 2017 and on January 15, 2018. Lovely is only the fourth player in Shawnee State program history to win three MSC Player of the Week awards, and is only the 10th player in program history to win three or more Player of the Week awards in any conference.
