Baseball drops series finale to Lindsey Wilson 13-1

Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State baseball were handed a loss on Sunday afternoon, falling to #15 Lindsey Wilson 13-1 in the decisive game of their three game set.

Lindsey Wilson would open the scoring in the third inning when Ben Giland singled home Steven Paredes. The Bears would immediately respond in the bottom of the third, when Christian Helton (SO/Lexington, Ky.) would single home Chris Nunez (FR/Sunrise, Florida) with one out.

From there, it would be all Lindsey Wilson as the Blue Raiders would rough up the Shawnee State pitching staff. Lindsey would score four runs on five hits in the top of the fourth, including a Tanner Moore double. Connor Anderson would homer in the top of the seventh to give Lindsey Wilson a 6-1 lead. The Blue Raiders would add three in the eighth and four in the ninth, fueled by a three run homer from Jayden Jackson.

Aaron Pearcy would throw a complete game for Lindsey Wilson, allowing only one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts to earn the win. Kyle Warner (JR/Elyria, Ohio) allowed five runs on 11 hits to get hit with the loss for Shawnee State.

With the loss, Shawnee State falls to 6-19 on the season and are 1-3 in the Mid-South Conference. Lindsey Wilson improves to 15-12 and 3-1 in the league.

Shawnee State baseball returns to action on Wednesday, March 22nd when they play a doubleheader at Lourdes University (Ohio). First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm.
