Baseball drops series finale to Georgetown 6-3

Georgetown, Ky. – Shawnee State baseball dropped the rubber match of their three game set against Georgetown, falling 6-3.

The Bears took the lead in the third inning, plating two runs on a Brandon Reaman (SR/Dayton, Ohio) two-run homer. However, Shawnee State would not be able to hold the lead as Georgetown would score three in the bottom of the third, with the big blow being Sam Medina's two run triple. Georgetown would score two more in the bottom of the fourth, and another in the bottom of the seventh. Mike Watson (JR/Niles, Ohio) would score on a passed ball in the top of the ninth, but Shawnee State could not muster any more runs.

Kyle Fieger threw seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits to get the win for Georgetown. Kyle Warner (JR/Elyria, Ohio) allowed five runs on five hits, striking out five to get hit with the loss.

With the loss, Shawnee State fall to 5-16 and are 1-2 in the Mid-South Conference. Georgetown improve to 16-6 and are 2-1 in the league.

Shawnee State return to action next Wednesday, March 15th when they host Bluefield College (Va.) at Branch Rickey Park. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm.
