Walnut Grove, Ark. - Shawnee State baseball were beaten twice on Saturday, falling in game one of their doubleheader to Williams Baptist 4-1 before being beating by the Eagles 8-7 on a walkoff in game two.
The fell behind early in game one, allowing to runs in the bottom of the second. Chase Thurber (SO/Andover, Ohio) would drive in a run with a single in the top of the fourth, but the Bears' bats would go cold. Williams Baptist would score two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach, and stifle the Bears.
Shawnee State would fall behind again in game two, allowing the Eagles to score twice in the bottom of the first. The Bears would turn things around in the top of the third when Brandon Reaman (SR/Dayton, Ohio) would hit a three-run home run to put SSU up 3-2. Shawnee State would score three more runs in the fifth to go up 6-2, and would lead 7-3 in the bottom of the sixth. However, the Eagles would score two runs in the sixth and would rally for three runs in the seventh to walk off on the Bears.
With the losses, Shawnee State fall to 2-5 on the season. Williams Baptist improve to 5-3.
Shawnee State return to action next Friday and Saturday when they travel to Alabama to take on #2 Faulkner (Ala.). First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4:00pm with Saturday's doubleheader starting at 2:00pm.
