Women's Soccer earns 2-2 draw with Cumberlands (Ky.)

Williamsburg, Ky. – Shawnee State women's soccer earned a 2-2 road draw at Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears would open the scoring in the first half. Lindsey Bates would find space down the left hand side of the box, and put a cross in for Maddie Woodard (SR/Camden, Ohio). Woodard would find herself 1-on-1 with Cumberlands goalkeeper Christie Funk, and would find the net to give SSU a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute.

Woodard would again pop up on the scoresheet in the 61st minute. Receiving a Jenny Campbell (SR/Chillicothe, Ohio) through ball, Woodard would finish past Funk to put the Bears up 2-0 in the second half. However, the Patriots would mount a comeback, with NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week Jody LeMaster scoring in the 71st minute, and Shara Randez equalizing in the 84th minute. The teams would play two goalless overtimes to draw 2-2.

The draw moves Shawnee State's record to 8-3-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in the Mid-South Conference. Cumberlands moves to 6-6-1 and 2-1-1 in the league.

Shawnee State women's soccer returns to action on Wednesday, October 18 when they host Cumberland (Tenn.). Kickoff is currently scheduled for 6:00pm.
