Men's Basketball fall on road to Campbellsville

Campbellsville, Ky. – Shawnee State men's basketball lost their fifth straight conference game on Saturday, falling to Campbellsville 79-71.

The Bears found themselves in the lead at halftime after racing out to an 8-2 lead early. Shawnee State led by as many as nine in the half before Campbellsville roared back to take a 26-25 lead. The fairly even half would see Ryan Duncan (JR/Dublin, Ohio) hit a buzzer-beating three pointer to send Shawnee State to a 33-30 lead. Duncan led the Bears with nine points at the break.

Campbellsville would immediately fight back, and take a 46-43 lead with 13:21 to go. The Tigers would never trail for the rest of the game. Jayllen Carter (JR/Portsmouth, Ohio) would cut the lead to 59-57 with 5:00 to go, but Campbellsville would hold out and put away the win late.

Jayllen Carter led Shawnee State with 18 points in the loss. Corey Benton (FR/Columbus, Ohio) added 12 and Selby Hind-Wills (FR/Crawley, England) 10.

Campbellsville were led by Rod Lawrence's game-high 25 points. Erik Kinney added a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

With the loss, Shawnee State fall to 7-10 and are 0-5 in the Mid-South Conference. Campbellsville improve to 10-8 and are 2-4 in the league.

The Bears are back in action on Thursday, January 19th when they host Cumberland (Tenn.). Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00pm.
