Men's Soccer falls to (RV) Cumberland

Lebanon, Tenn. - Shawnee State men's soccer fell in Mid-South Conference action on Saturday, losing to (RV) Cumberland 6-1.

Cumberland controlled possession and the scoreline in the first half. Daniel Williams opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, slotting past Cody Hartong (JR/Creston, Ohio) into the corner. Elliot Goodwin would score in the 16th minute, followed by goals from Brian McNamara and Josh Armstrong to put the lead at 4-0 at halftime.

The Bears couldn't find a way back into the game in the second half. Williams completed a brace for Cumberland in the 59th minute. Shawnee State captain Martyn Sayer (SR/Liverpool, England) would score on a free kick under the wall in the 64th minute, his second goal of the campaign. Alex Marr would round out the scoring for the Phoenix in the 85th minute.

With the loss, Shawnee State falls to 1-6, and 0-1 in the Mid-South Conference. Cumberland improves to 6-2-1, and 3-0 in the conference.

Shawnee State are next in action on Wednesday, September 28th when they host Campbellsville in Mid-South Conference action. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00pm.
