SSU drops road contest versus Saint Catharine

ST. CATHARINE, KY (Tennis) – The Bears split singles play matchups, but doubles play is what proved to be detrimental for Shawnee State, as the SSU tennis squad fell to Saint Catharine College by a score of 6-3 on Friday at Saint Catharine.

In doubles play the duo of Molly Richards (FR/Washington Courthouse, Ohio) and Katy Singer (FR/Lucasville, Ohio) opened the day with a 8-6 victory. Caleigh O'Neil (FR/Greenup, Ky.) and Kiersten McGraw (FR/New Boston, Ohio) fell in the next match by a score of 8-1. To close out doubles play Adrianna Johnson (FR/Clarksville, Ohio) and Mara McGee (SO/Baltimore, Ohio) were defeated 8-2.

Richards followed up her doubles victory with another victory in singles play, winning her match 6-4, 10-4. Singer was defeated in the second match 6-2, 6-0. McGee closed the competition with a 6-0, 6-2 victory, but this was not enough as Shawnee State lost the contests 6-3

The Bears return to action on Saturday when they go on the road to take on the 14th ranked Cumberland University
