Campbellsville, Ky. (Softball) – The Tiger's pitcher threw a flawless five frames to defeat the Bears 10-0 in game one. In game two the Bears continued to struggle offensively falling 11-3 to Campbellsville on Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.
Hannah Dittoe (SR/Pickerington, Ohio) provided the offense for SSU, finishing game two with an RBI. Miranda Pauley (JR/Portsmouth, Ohio) and Morgan Conrad (SO/Circleville, Ohio) pitched for Shawnee State.
Game One
The Tigers were able to pick up eight runs in inning number two and another two in inning number three. This was all Campbellsville needed thanks to a dominant pitching performance from Victoria Dekker going all five innings without allowing a baserunner, en route to the five inning perfect game. Shawnee State fell by a final score of 10-0.
Game Two
SSU scored two runs in the top of the first inning thanks to smart base running by Tara Duncan (JR/Lancaster, Ohio) and Dittoe. The Tigers answered scoring four runs in their half of the first. Campbellsville scored a run in the second and added three more in the fourth and fifth inning. SSU tried to put together a rally scoring a run in the fifth, but the Bears came out on the losing end of an 11-3 defeat.
Shawnee State will return to action Tuesday for a Mid-South conference bout with Georgetown College. Game one of the two game set is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at Boone Coleman Field.
