Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State men's basketball were victorious in game one of the Bevo Francis Invitational Tournament, downing Kent State-Tuscawaras 101-47.
It was all Shawnee State from the start as the Bears would take a 7-0 lead and never look back. The Bears forced 26 Golden Eagles turnovers and outrebounded KSU-T by 30, 49-19. Shawnee State led 49-22 at halftime, and would win the second half 52-25 to cruise to the win.
Jayllen Carter (JR/Portsmouth, Ohio) scored 16 points to lead Shawnee State and was one of four Bears in double figures. Selby Hind-Wills (FR/Crawley, England) would add a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, Jacob Daniels (SR/Peebles, Ohio) added 14 points, an J Murrell 10.
Kent State-Tuscawaras' Josh Haney scored 20 points to lead all scorers.
With the win, Shawnee State improves to 4-3 and moves to the championship game of the Bevo Francis Invitational Tournament. Kent State-Tuscawaras falls to 0-3.
The Bears will play the winner of tonight's men's game between Rio Grande and Miami-Hamilton. Tipoff for tomorrow's game will be announced later this evening.
