Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State women's soccer picked up their sixth win in seven games on Friday afternoon, defeating St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) 6-1.
The Bears would get out to an early lead when Shelby Hay (FR/Louisa, KY) would score off a Charity Collins (FR/Ashland, KY) assist in the 12th minute. Maddie Woodard (JR/Camden, Ohio) would slide home in the 34th minute to make the lead 2-0.
Woodard would get back on the score sheet again, notching two more goals in the 50th and 59th minutes to secure a hat trick. Cami Navarra would pull one back for the Pomeroys on a penalty. Jenny Campbell (JR/Chillicothe, Ohio) would then score twice in quick succession for Shawnee State, grabbing goals in the 79th and 84th minutes to seal the win.
With the sin, Shawnee State improves to 6-5-2 on the season, and have won six games in seven. St. Mary-of-the-Woods fall to 2-12-1.
The Bears are next in action on Saturday, October 29th when they take on #4 Lindsey Wilson to wrap up the regular season and Mid-South Conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00pm in Columbia, Kentucky.
