Kate Hunt Signs with Softball

PORTSMOUTH – Shawnee State softball has announced the signing of Kate Hunt. Hunt will come to the Bears from Heath High School. She has seen time primarily at first base, while also seeing spot duty in the circle as a pitcher during her high school career.

As a junior last spring, Hunt batted .398 with 25 hits. She also hit seven home runs and drove in 29 runs for Heath as she led her team to a 21-6 overall record. She was named a first-team All-Advocate honoree for her season. She also earned second-team All-League honors and was a special mention All-State selection. Hunt also compiled a 4-0 record with a 1.12 ERA a season ago. In total, Hunt has lettered three times in softball. She has also served as a team captain for two seasons.

The most recent college signee from her family, Hunt will join her three brothers in the collegiate athletic ranks. Her brother, David, is a member of the nationally known Mount Union football team, while her other brother, Adam, plays football at Muskingum. Nate Hunt, has stuck to the diamond like his sister and is a member of the Muskingum baseball team.

While at Shawnee State, Hunt plans to major in Dental Hygiene.
