PORTSMOUTH – The tough opening stretch of the schedule continued Tuesday in the Shawnee State teniis home opener against the (RV) University of the Cumberlands. The Bears (0-2, 0-2 MSC) were unable to pick up a match against the Patriots (5-5, 3-2 MSC), falling 9-0.

In doubles, the duo of Aubrey Johnson and Abbi Morrow were able to get on the board early with a game but fell 8-1 in the end in the third doubles match. The Bears were shutout in terms of games at the top two positions.

Morrow also picked up another game in her singles match at No. 6. Brianna Boggs won two games in her match at No. 4 singles. After a 6-0 opening set, Boggs lost 6-2 in the second set. The Patriots shut down the Bears in the other four positions.

Tennis will be back on the road next weekend as the Bears travel to St. Catharine (Mar. 29) and No. 4 Lindsey Wilson (Mar. 30) in back-to-back days of competition.
