ST. CATHARINE, Ky. (Men's Soccer) – The Shawnee State men's soccer team recorded zero shots on goal and allowed two first half goals, as the Bears were defeated, 2-0, at the hands of St. Catharine College on St. Catherine Turf.
Despite offensive efforts including 6 mis-placed shots and 2 corner kicks, the Bears were scoreless in the first half of play while rendering 2 goals to St. Catherine.
It was in the 12th minute that St. Catharine was able to get on the board with a free kick by Ashlet Woods that got by keeper, Brandon Pfeifer (FR/Canal Winchester, Ohio). The second goal of the game is credited to Harry Kirwan after a corner kick by Marvin Wesselburg.
The Bears attempted just 10 shots in the contest, with none hitting the target. Three came from Martyn Sayer (SO/Liverpool, England), Avery Patton (JR/Pickerington, Ohio) and Joseph Webster (SR/Kendal, Cumbria United Kingdom) both had two, and Joe Lamont (SO/Edinburgh, Scotland), Nick Dowdell (JR/New London, Ohio), and Ben Pulsford (JR/Slough, England) each had one. Shawnee State keeper, Brandon Pfeifer recorded one save.
This ends Mid-South Conferece action for the Bears. St. Catharine will advance to second round play against Cumberland on November 13th in Campbellsville, KY.
