Campbell hat trick paces 8-0 victory over Kentucky Christian

GRAYSON, Ky. (Women's Soccer) – Jenny Campbell (FR/Chillicothe, Ohio) scored three goals and assisted on two more, while Schuyler Jones (JR/Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) added a pair of goals and three assists, as the Shawnee State women's soccer team cruised to an 8-0 victory over Kentucky Christian on Friday afternoon.

Mollie King (JR/West Jefferson, Ohio) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bears to record her third shutout of the season. In fact, King faced very little action, as the Knights did not record a shot in the game – being outshot 31-0, including 16 shots on goal for SSU.

Campbell gave the Bears a 1-0 lead five minutes into the comment, as Jones added her first assist. Jones was on the receiving end of an assist from Maddie Woodard (FR/Camden, Ohio) five minutes later. In the 24th minute, Woodard and Campbell hooked up for the freshman's second goal of the match, putting SSU ahead, 3-0.

In the 36th minute, the combo of Jones and Campbell went at it again, this time with the former scoring the goal on an assist from the latter. With one second remaining in the first half, the pair was back at it to push the score to 5-0, Bears.

The second half featured more of the same from SSU. In the 59th minute, Leslie Marsh (SO/Springboro, Ohio) jumped into the scoring pool, with an unassisted score. Defender Aubrey Sherman (SR/Clarksville, Ohio) made it 7-0 in the 79th on Jones' third assist.

Woodard and Campbell put a cap on the scoring with just over 30 seconds to play. Woodard completed the goal on an assist from the Campbell, her eighth point of the match.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday for a home bout with the University of Pikeville. As the final home match of the season, it will represent senior day for a pair – Aubrey Sherman and Haley Ruggles (SR/Wheelersburg, Ohio). The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
