Volleyball Stopped at Campbellsville, 3-1

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Volleyball found itself in a one-all tie after two games following a hard-fought 25-23 second game. Unfortunately for the Bears, they could never capture the lead as the Campbellsville (5-0, 4-0 MSC) kept their perfect season going by taking the final two games.

Despite the loss, the Bears actually finished with just five fewer kills than the Tigers but committed 22 attack errors while Campbellsville committed just 14 errors on its attacks. Tiffany Jackson and Paige Zelich each finished with a team-high 10 kills on the night while Ashley Galbraith and Devan Scarberry added nine more each.

Bonnie Huesing and Hannah Gephart split the setting duties fairly evenly as Gephart tallied a team-high 22 helpers while Huesing added 21 assists. These two also combined for the only service aces for SSU on the night as Gephart tallied a pair of aces while Huesing added an additional ace. On the other side of the net, Campbellsville finished with seven aces as a team.

Carly Mazza added a career-high 26 digs on the defensive end and successfully received 42 of the 43 serves that were directed her way. Madison Smith (13 digs) and Kirsti Yates (10 digs) also tallied double-digit dig totals on the evening.

The Bears (4-2, 1-1 MSC) will now look to this weekend where they will face another tough conference opponent as they take on last season's MSC Tournament Champion in No. 15 Lindsey Wilson. That match will begin at 3 p.m. EST. (2 p.m. CST where Lindsey Wilson is located).
