WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Tennis started its 2013 season off with a convincing victory at home against St. Catharine. Unfortunately for the Bears (1-1, 1-1 MSC), that one-match stretch didn't seem to translate well on the road as they were unable to pick up a team point in their match vs. the University of the Cumberlands (4-4, 2-2 MSC).

Starting out with the doubles competition, Ashley Fischer and Ashley O'Neill were the only doubles pairing that was able to take a game against their counterparts at No. 2. However, they would ultimately fall 8-3. At No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, the Patriots did not concede a game.

In singles, Fischer was the only player that was able to win a game as she dropped the opening set 6-2. All of the other sets would go 6-0 in favor of the Patriots, allowing them to pick up the team sweep of all nine matches that were contested.

The Bears will look to get back in the win column this coming Monday with their third straight conference match of seven to start the spring season. Weather permitting, that match will start at 1 p.m. on SSU's Dr. William E. Daehler Tennis Center Courts. Check back with SSUBears.com for any changes to that schedule.
