COLUMBIA, Ky. – Women's soccer saw the 2013 season come to an end with a 6-0 loss to MSC Runner-Up and NAIA No. 5 Lindsey Wilson in the conference quarterfinals. The Blue Raiders scored four goals in the opening half before adding two more within a minute span in the second half to move into the conference semifinals.
Lindsey Wilson got the scoring started early with its first goal coming just 7:54 into the game as Alice Coyne took the feed from Renee Hurd to put her team up 1-0. Just under four minutes later, the Blue Raiders had a 2-0 lead after Natasha Gensetter tallied an unassisted goal in the 12th minute of play.
Ayaki Shinada scored first of two goals on the evening in 22nd minute on the Blue Raiders' second unassisted goal of the contest. Just over three minutes later, Shinada would set up Cecilia Ekstrand in the 26th minute to stake LWC to a 4-0 lead in the half.
Shinada scored another unassisted goal in the 73rd minute to open up the scoring in the second half while just 37 seconds later Sabrina Tom took a pass from Coyne to make it a 6-0 margin which would end up being the final score.
The Bears were unable to record a shot in the match as a pair of Lindsey Wilson goalkeepers went untested. Emily Kuehn played the full 90 minutes in goal and stopped 10 of the 16 shots on goal that she faced. Additionally, the Bears recorded one defensive save to stop one other shot on goal.
The Bears finish their season with an overall record of 9-7-2.
