Shawnee State Named a Five-Star Champions of Character Institution

Champions of Character Scorecard

PORTSMOTUH - Shawnee State Athletics has once again been recognized as an NAIA Five-Star Champions of Character Institution. With a Champions of Character scorecard that totaled 67 of a possible 100 points, Shawnee State was one of 217 institutions in the NAIA to earn Five-Star recognition as scores were calculated for the 2012-13 academic year. Institutions earned points in five key areas on their scorecard: character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion.

In addition to Shawnee State, eight other institutions in the Mid-South Conference earned Five-Star Recognition as well. With nine of its 10 members represented as Five-Star Champions of Character institutions, the MSC was also named a Five-Star Champions of Character Conference.

In 2012-13 alone, Shawnee State had four student-athletes recognized as MSC Champions of Character recipients for their individual sports. Those student-athletes were Tyler Boyles (men's basketball), Jacob Hackworth (men's soccer), Tristan Rumfield (women's basketball) and Aaron Suydam (baseball).
