Shawnee State (27-9, 18-6) was able to sweep the visiting Cavaliers of the University of Virginia at Wise (21-29, 6-16) on senior day. It was the last games played for Jourdan Priddy (Xenia, OH) and Brooke Long (Pedro, OH) who both impacted Shawnee State's big day.
In the opener, the Bears saw their 5-1 lead diminish in the top of the seventh as the Cavaliers scored seven runs to take the 8-5 lead.
Shawnee State fought back, scoring a run on an RBI single by freshman Brytan Givens (Frankfort, OH). With two runners in scoring position, in her final series at home, Long rocketed the ball to right center, scoring both runners and then advanced herself to scoring position on the throw home.
Sophomore Nikki Nance (Proctorville, OH) hit a blooper to the shortstop but a mishandled catch by the first baseman allowed her to reach and Long hustled home to score the winning run.
Junior Ali Thompson (13-5) got the win as she pitched a complete game allowing eight runs on 11 hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
Wise's Chelsey Booth was tagged with the loss. She relieved starter Kaylla Holdway in the seventh and allowed three runs (one earned) on one hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Long and Bender finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate, while Priddy went 2-for-3. The three Bears combined for 6-for-11 with five runs and four RBI's.
In the night cap, Shawnee State took the 8-0 victory in five innings.

Givens crossed the plate on a wild pitch and a walk on Jenkins scored sophomore Brittany Ellis (Lucasville, OH). Another Wise error scored Long and Nance scored on an RBI by freshman Katy Bender (Canal Winchester, OH).
In the fifth, Bender was hit by a pitch to reach and then stole second. Bender scored on a single by freshman Hannah Foster (Portsmouth, OH) to mercy rule the Cavaliers.
Freshman Allie Chapman (Chesapeake, OH) improves to 7-1 on the mound with the shutout. Chapman allowed five hits while striking out three.
Yates went 2-for-2 at the plate, while Foster finished 2-for-4.
