Bears shutout Pikeville 23-0

Shawnee State brought the bats out, scoring a run in every inning but the 5th en route to a 23-0 shutout over Pikeville on Friday afternoon. The Bears improve to 18-19 on the season and 5-7 in MSC play.

Shawnee State accumulated 22 hits in the game. Shawnee opened the game with three runs in the first, but blew open their lead in the second scoring nine runs. The Bears posted another run in the third and three each in the fourth and sixth. They wrapped up their scoring in the seventh with four runs.

Senior Austin Dunfee (Pomeroy, OH) held Pikeville scorless as he pitched a complete game allowing seven hits, a walk, while striking out five.

Pikeville's David Bishop was tagged with the loss as he started the game allowing three runs (one earned) on no hits, with thre walks and a strikeout.

Each of Shawnee's batter recorded a hit in the contest. Coming off of his stellar game against OU-Chillicothe, freshman Matt Jones (Greenup, KY) continued his success at the plate going 3-for-3 with two doubles, five runs scored and three RBI's. Junior Colin Keim (Clinton, OH) and senior Quentin Everman (Galloway, OH) each went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double. Everman added four runs and three RBI's. Senior AJ Gomez (Spring, TX) went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and three RBI's. Senior Cody Morrison (Spring, TX) added a triple and a double for the Bears.

Shawnee closes the three game series against Pikeville on Saturday.
