Four Shawnee State women's basketball players earned postseason recognition at the banquet which was held in Frankfort, KY on Wednesday evening. Senior Abby Ballman (Cincinnati, OH) took home three honors on the night; 1st Team All-MSC, the MSC Champions of Character recipient and named to the MSC All-Academic Team. Sophomore Alannah Sheets (Leon, WV) joined Ballman on 1st Team, while junior Alex Pohl (Loveland, OH) was named Honorable Mention All-MSC. Junior Tristan Rumfield (Bainbridge, OH) was named to the MSC All-Academic Team.
Ballman, a 5-10 guard, averages 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.1 steals per game as the Bears' general on the floor. She leads the Bears' shooting 83 percent from the free throw line. This season she broke Shawnee's career steals record with 372 during her four-year career.
Ballman was named Mid-South Champions of Character recipient for her civic and servant leadership within Shawnee State and the community.
The Psychology major was also named to the MSC All-Academic Team for maintaining a 3.25 grade point average in the classroom.
Sheets, a 5-10 guard, leads the Bears' averaging 14.5 points per game. She also averages 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Pohl, a 5-11 forward, leads the Bears averaging 9.1 rebounds per game and second on the team in scoring averaging 13.6 points per game. This season, Pohl has tallied 12 double-doubles.
Rumfield, a 5-9 forward redshirt, was also named to the MSC All-Academic Team. The Middle School Education major maintains a 3.25 in the classroom.
Shawnee State takes on Rio Grande tonight in the Quarterfinals of the MSC Tournament in Frankfort, KY. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in the Frankfort Convention Center.
