NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Seventh-seeded women's soccer saw its season come to an end in the Mid-South Quarterfinals with a 10-0 loss at the hands of second-seeded and NAIA No. 25 Cumberland University. The Bulldogs scored six times in the first half and four more times in the second to advance to the MSC Quarterfinals.
The Bears finish their 2012 campaign with an overall record of 8-11.
Cumberland's scoring seemed to come is spurts as the Bulldogs' Rhianne Parsons tallied just over nine minutes into the opening half and she would tally in the 12th minute as well. Parsons would finish the game with four goals in total.
Two more goals in the 25th and 27th minute would give Cumberland a 4-0 lead, while Parson's third goal of the afternoon in the 35th minute and a goal with a just over a minute to goal in the half made the score 6-0 at the break.
The Bulldogs would stay on the attack and score less than three minutes into the second half with Parson's fourth goal of the day and added their eighth goal just under three minutes after that. The eighth goal came off the foot of the nation's top goal scorer, Kelsey Langille, who scored just once on the day. Cumberland would wrap up the scoring with two more goals in the 58th and 62nd minutes.
The Bulldogs finished with a 25-4 edge in shots. Jessica Fair took two of those shots, while Haley Rugles (who put the only attempt on frame for the Bears) and Kayla Dye also recorded shots. Lindsay Kitson recorded the shutout for Cumberland in goal, while Emily Kuehn made seven saves in goal on the afternoon.
