OXFORD, Ohio --
Olivia Cisco and a River States Conference weekly award. It's become a common theme at this point.
The senior runner's best-ever performance as a cross country athlete and her school record time of 22:06 at the Indiana Wesleyan University Twilight Meet, which put the star runner in third place in a deep and talented 203-runner field, essentially made Cisco a shoe-in to win the River States Conference's Runner of the Week Award, as announced by RSC officials Monday afternoon.
In addition to running a personal best and school record time of 22:06 in the 6K to finish third of 203 harriers in a race stacked with five NAIA teams ranked in the NAIA XC Top 25 Rating as well as five others, including SSU, receiving votes, Shawnee State ended up being the top River States Conference team in the meet, placing fifth thanks to Cisco's efforts.
Only the 2024Â NAIAÂ Women's XC National Champion, Taylor's Jaynie Halterman -- along with Marian's Katie Woods, who finished third at the 2024Â NAIAÂ National Championship Meet, finished higher than Cisco in the race.
Cisco also finished ahead of three individuals in the race who were national top-50 finishers at the 2024 NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships, including Noel VanderWall (Taylor, seventh in '24 NAIA National Championships), Esther Kleber Cameron (Grace, 22nd in '24 NAIA National Championships) and Elizabeth Barrett (Indiana Wesleyan, 50th in '24 NAIA National Championships).
