A pair of in-state matches await the Shawnee State volleyball program Friday and Saturday as the Shawnee State volleyball program will take on Mount Vernon Nazarene and Northwestern Ohio Friday and Saturday at Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth -- with the Mount Vernon Nazarene contest slated to begin at 6 p.m. Friday evening and the Northwestern Ohio matchup set for a 2 p.m. start Saturday afternoon.
Through its first 11 matches of the 2025 season, Shawnee State sits 8-3 overall -- its best start to a season since 2021. Seniors
Ava Jenkins and
Megan Steele have combined for 2,137 career digs while senior setters
Makaela Lovely and
Reagan Lewis have combined for 2,574 career assists.
On the front line, six players have tallied 50 or more kills off of the passes of Lewis and Lovely, including
Whytney Faulkner (70),
Katelynn Boerger (67),
Natalie Reida (63) and
Camille Hall (62). Lewis (57) and
Bree Hicks (50) round out the kill leaders.
Mount Vernon Nazarene (6-4) is led by senior middle hitter Faith Maloney and junior outside hitter Libby Evanshine, who have combined for 221 kills. Senior setter Reagan Nuss has tallied 343 assists, while Nuss and fellow senior Jaelyn Tang have combined for 265 digs in 2025.
Northwestern Ohio (3-6) has been led by strong defensive efforts from sophomores Riley Treece and Paige Hoodlebrink as well as junior Alli Lopez. The trio have combined for 282 digs in 2025. Hoodlebrink, who serves as UNOH's primary setter, has 159 assists to lead the Racers in that category.
