Game Recap: Men's Outdoor Track and Field |

Rader wins Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet with personal best, NAIA National 'B' Standard long jump to qualify for OTF Nationals; I. Lanoy improves on personal best in 3,000 meter steeplechase to set second NAIA 'A' Standard as pair lead SSU men's T&F

BEREA, Ohio -- The accomplishments that Luke Rader and Isaiah Lanoy have put together during the 2024-25 season have been fun for many observers to watch, to say the least.

So it was only fitting that the pair -- in Shawnee State's final tuneup prior to the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships -- would provide thrilling theatrics.

Having posted a NAIA All-American long jump mark at the 2025 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, Rader had been working toward obtaining the opportunity to accomplish the same feat again, but prior to Friday, hadn't set the necessary standard mark to qualify in the event from an outdoor standpoint.

Rader, however, made that fact a distant memory Friday evening, ripping off a massive 23-foot, 11-and-a-half-inch long jump (7.30 meters) to not only win the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet with a new personal best long jump, but obtain a NAIA National 'B' Standard in the event to punch his ticket to his second NAIA National Championship appearance in as many meets in a Shawnee State men's track and field uniform.

Isaiah Lanoy, meanwhile, set another blistering pace in the 3,000 meter steeplechase -- posting his second NAIA National 'A' Standard mark of the season and a new personal best as Lanoy and Rader led the Shawnee State men's track and field program's efforts on the final day of the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet, which was held at George Finnie Stadium and the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Friday in Berea, Ohio.

Rader made quick work of his splendid performance -- as on the third attempt, the talented field athlete exceeded the magic number needed to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with his 23-foot, 11-and-a-half inch performance, winning the 17-individual event.

In addition to beating participants from 11 different schools in the long jump, Rader won the event by over one feet, four inches in a terrific showing that now has the Minford product 18th nationally in the event rundown.

Lanoy, meanwhile, had already run a 9:13.97 coming into Friday's 3,000 meter steeplechase to book his trip to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the second consecutive year in the steeplechase -- but didn't waste any time improving on his River States Conference Championship winning performance from two weeks prior, posting a 9:12.49 to run nearly a second-and-a-half faster in the event. Lanoy, who placed third out of 19 individuals in the event, outran 16 different individuals from 11 different schools in another strong performance that keeps Lanoy at seventh nationally in the NAIA in the event heading into the three-day NAIA National Championships from May 21 through May 23 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.

"Luke kept us on the edge of our seats all season, as he shows up late in the season," Shawnee State Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Conner Flynn said. "He is a phenomenal athlete and it's great to see him take advantage of this final chance and punch his ticket to the national championships. Isaiah had a great day running under the A standard once again, and placing third in such a deep field. I am excited to see what he can do at nationals."

Behind the duo, Eli Adkins -- who already punched his own ticket to the 2025 NAIA Men's Track and Field Outdoor National Championships -- enjoyed another respectable performance, finishing seventh after clearing six feet, two and three-quarters inches in the high jump. Dylan French, the final competitor for the Shawnee State men's track and field program during the day, clicked off a 15:22.86 to finish 42nd out of 81 competitors in the 5,000 meter run.

In the 2025 NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, Isaiah Lanoy will compete in the 3,000 meter steeplechase preliminaries Thursday, May 21 at 7:55 p.m. with the opportunity to advance to Saturday, May 23's 1:20 p.m. final. Rader, Adkins and Alan Austin will each compete in that order on Friday, May 22 -- as Rader hits the long jump at 2:30 p.m., Adkins looks to match or exceed his personal best high jump of six feet, nine inches at 4:30 p.m., and Austin throws in the discus at 6 p.m.

The full field for the 2025 NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field National Championships will be announced next week.
