SSU women's bowling program finishes 18th at ITC Sectionals

SMYRNA, Tenn. -- Despite its youth, the women's bowling program at Shawnee State University acquitted itself well on the second day of competition -- and improved on its placement by moving up two positions into the 18th spot to finish out Intercollegiate Team Sectional (ITC) play Sunday at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tenn.

Shawnee State, who dropped 10,542 pins over its 64 Baker games, knocked down 195 pins each in Games 36 and 37, 199 pins in Game 40 and 197 pins in Game 63. The Bears also dropped 185 pins in Game 58, 180 tallies each in Games 39 and 50 and 179 markers in Game 41.

In collecting its total, the Bears bettered Indiana Wesleyan and Huntington (Ind.) in its 18th place finish.

SSU loses two key senior pieces in Olyvia Bittner and Brooklyn Foose but return the remaining seven letterwinners for the 2025-26 season in addition to an already stout recruiting class. Foose has been a two-sport participant who was been a junior varsity participant on the women's bowling side and currently is a key component in the lineup for the Shawnee State's women's tennis program, while Bittner improved her scoring average by over 31 pins per game from her freshman year to her senior year (148.5 to 179.3) with the ITC Sectionals still to be factored in.
