ELKHART, Ind. -- Standout women's swimmers Abigail Bosler and Katie McCafferty enjoyed strong outings in the water once again during the final day of the NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships at the Elkhart Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ind., concluding their seasons by adding in two NAIA National Top-25 finishes between them as McCafferty's 22nd place performance in the 1650 yard freestyle and Bosler's 24th place outing in the 200 yard breaststroke heading up a terrific effort by the duo to close out the 2024-25 season from a swimming standpoint for Shawnee State University on Saturday.
McCafferty, who notched her best performance of the NAIA National Championships on Saturday, swam a 18:43.24 to drop her national championship entry time by nearly 4.8 seconds in a strong showing from the sophomore. McCafferty beat two Mid-South Conference swimmers from Indiana Wesleyan in the event and also bested one swimmer each from Keiser (Fla.), Arizona Christian, Aquinas (Mich.) and Loyola (La.) in the event.
Bosler, who claimed her second NAIA National Top-25 time of the weekend, placed 24th by notching a 2:28.84. In doing so, the junior beat out four Mid-South Conference swimmers -- including two from Cumberlands (Ky.) and one each from Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson -- and also bested two swimmers from St. Thomas (Fla.) as well as a competitor from Tennessee-Southern.
With their efforts on Saturday, Bosler and McCafferty finished as the fifth fastest Mid-South Conference swimmer at the national meet, respectively, in both events.
