SSU women's bowling sits 20th after opening day of ITC Sectional

SMYRNA, Tenn. -- The women's bowling program at Shawnee State knocked down 5,258 pins on the opening day of sectional competition at the Smyrna Bowling Lanes in Smyrna, Tenn. to place 20th following the opening day of action.

SSU, who dropped 2,681 pins in the first 16-game block and 2,577 pins over the second 16-game set, posted its best scores of 199 and 192 in Games 2 and 5. The Bears also knocked down 191 pins in Game 30, 189 pins in Game 13, 184 pins in Game 10 and 183 pins in Game 25.

The Bears also exceeded 175 pins or more in games seven, 15, 16, and 24 -- dropping 179 pins in Game 7 and 178 pins apiece in the additional three Bakers.

In addition to Ohio, Shawnee State is competing against schools that represent 12 additional states, including Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

The second and final day of ITC Sectional competition in Smyrna begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
