Women's Cross Country

Adams, Brammer, Hurst, Pemberton run in Ohio Wesleyan Invitational

POWELL, Ohio -- The women's cross country program at Shawnee State had four individuals take part in the annual Ohio Wesleyan Invitational held at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio Friday evening -- as Whitney Adams, Natalie Brammer, Emma Hurst and Allana Pemberton all ran in the six kilometer event to kick off the weekend.

Adams, who ran a 26:43.5 to finish in 95th place, ran an entire minute faster than her previous personal best in just her third career 6K event.

Hurst, who finished in 104th place, improved her personal best by a second, posting a 27:20.1 to beat out her previous PB of 27:21.

Brammer, a consistent and reliable senior on the Shawnee State cross country squad, crossed the tape at 28:30.5 to finish 115th -- joining Adams as the second Wheelersburg High School graduate-turned-Shawnee State cross country member to compete in the event -- while Pemberton, who placed 133rd, ran a 31:17.4 -- a 31-second personal best from her previous PB of 31:48.7.

Like Adams and Brammer, Hurst and Pemberton are also local products -- as Hurst is a graduate of Manchester High School while Pemberton hails from nearby Coal Grove High School.

The women's cross country program at Shawnee State races Saturday morning (Oct. 4) in the prestigious Live in Lou XC Classic, which will be held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
