In a last-minute entry, Wheelersburg native and Shawnee State sophomore Natalie Brammer competed in the 5,000 meter racewalk at the Gordon Bocock Invitational in Williamsburg, Ky. The Wheelersburg product finished fifth, posting a time of 31:29.33 to set a new outdoor school record in the event.
Brammer finished over two minutes ahead of the sixth through ninth place runners in the event. The only runners that bested Brammer were three host runners of Cumberlands -- Heather Durrant, Alexa Governor, and Lilian Bittencourt, who each set NAIA National 'A' Standard times in the race -- and Indiana-Kokomo's Maddie Dortich, who posted a 30:56.84.
Brammer came within a minute-and-a-half of setting an NAIA National 'B' Standard in the race itself.
The women's track and field program at Shawnee State will be back in action next Friday in two different places as SSU will compete at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus as well as the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville.
