In a pair of tennis matches -- one a River States Conference match in Oakland City, Ind. and the other a nonconference match at Daehler Tennis Courts against Georgetown, the women's tennis program at Shawnee State fell by 7-0 and 6-1 margins to Oakland City Sunday evening and Georgetown Wednesday evening.
Highlights -- Oakland City
Against Oakland City, Brooklyn Foose and Vanessa Akuaku took four games from Oakland City's No. 1 doubles tandem of Liz Aristizabal and Cristina Adelsdorfer before falling by a 6-4 margin, while SSU's No. 2 doubles pairing of Lacey and Lexy Urban took Isabela Todorovic and Marianna Espinosa to what ended up being a tight 7-5 setback.

Against Georgetown, Lacey Urban and Lexy Urban took the Tigers' No. 1 doubles unit of Bailee Martin and Sam Spady to a 6-4 contest before falling by that margin. Vanessa Akuaku and Brooklyn Foose then took the No. 2 doubles pairing of Lydia Prince and Maddie Gill to a 7-6 contest before falling.
Akuaku, who has been at the No. 1 singles position all year, outlasted Georgetown's No. 1 single talent, Bailee Martin, 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 to claim victory and the lone point of the match for SSU, while Lexy Urban took Georgetown's Maddie Gill to a strong 7-5, 6-4 contest at No. 3 singles before falling.
