LoL, Super Smash Bros. combine to go 3-0 in perfect weekend in GLEC play

The Esports programs at Shawnee State finished off Great Lakes Esports Conference (GLEC) competition with three victories -- as the Bears notched 2-0 victories across the board against Great Lakes Esports Conference foes in Saint Xavier (Ill.) and Baldwin Wallace on the Super Smash Bros side and Cleary (Mich.) in League of Legends competition.

Saturday, Nov. 2, GLEC Super Smash Bros. -- Shawnee State 2, Saint Xavier (Ill.) 0 (2-0, 7-0); Shawnee State 2, Baldwin Wallace 0 (2-0, 4-0)

In GLEC Super Smash Bros competition, Shawnee State's Super Smash Bros. unit again put on a show, winning by 2-0 margins over Saint Xavier (2-0, 7-0) and Baldwin Wallace (2-0, 4-0) in conference competition Saturday.

Against Saint Xavier, Chris Mowery (Gamertag: Spaceminer) and Simon Rhodes (Gamertag: BIRD_) cleaned house as Mowery collected 16 stocks -- including a streak of seven stocks in a row to go along with two separate three-stock streaks playing as ToonLink -- while Rhodes added in seven stocks with a three-stock streak playing as wolf.

As for the in-state matchup against Baldwin-Wallace, Mowery nabbed 11 stocks with a four-stock run and a three-stock push again playing as ToonLink, while Michael Clark (Gamertag: Smooglegad) ripped off seven stocks against the Yellow Jackets with three separate two-stock streaks running as K Rool.

Saturday, Nov. 2, GLEC League of Legends -- Shawnee State 2, Cleary 0

In GLEC competition, the Shawnee State League of Legends squad swiftly picked up a 2-0 win over Cleary (Mich.) behind a dominating performance by Owen New.

New (Gamertag: JablOwen) nabbed a fantastic 29 kills and 36,683 points to head up the Bears' convincing victories in GLEC competition. New's kills equaled Cleary's entire output as a team in both games in what was a truly dominating performance.
