HANOVER, Ind. -- The play of Shawnee State men's tennis players Ishmael Dowuona and Ryan Fox proved to be rock-solid once again for the men's tennis program -- as Dowuona and Fox teamed up to claim a triumph at No. 1 doubles, then won their respective showings at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles to lead the Bears in action Saturday at the Zeddies Tennis Center in Hanover, Ind.
Dowuona and Fox claimed an impressive victory at No. 1 doubles as the pair defeated Hanover's Jake Fascione and Mario Bravo by a 6-3 margin.
The pair then continued their standout play into singles competition -- with Dowuona defeating Fascione by a 7-5, 6-4 margin at No. 1 singles. Fox then claimed a win at No. 2 singles -- as the sophomore was leading 4-3 over Bravo in the opening set when Bravo retired from the match due to injury.
Daniel Cristobal and Adam Stanley were competitive at No. 3 and No. 4 singles as well -- with Cristobal winning 15 games in a three-set battle with Hanover's Sebastian Vogel at No. 3 singles and Stanley winning 10 games in his own three-set contest with Hanover's Jaya Sivesh at the No. 4 position.
