During the Homecoming festivities the Bears' Overwatch team played in the second day of the ABC swiss stage. Where they had a rougher day than the previous weekend, losing both matches against the University of Buffalo and York University. Getting swept in both series 3-0. This move the team to a 1-3 record at the end of day two.
Shawnee State Bears vs University of Buffalo 1-3 Loss
In the first match of the day, third of the tournament, the Bears faced off against the University of Buffalo.
Map one took place on Lijiang Tower, where the Bears started off with a rough 2-0 loss. Elimination leaders were Tank Gaberiel Martinson (gamertag: Happy) and DPS Zach Smith (gamertag: Zsmitty2020) tied at 19 eliminations each. With Gavin Jones (gamertag: Zephyr) leading the assist category with 16 and Logan Betz (gamertag: DotBetz) just behind him with 15.
Map two was on Midtown, where the Bears started off on attack. Buffalo had a unbreakable defense where they full held the Bears; not allowing them to get a single point. They then take the attack, capturing the first point and closing out the map, 1-0. Taking a 2-0 lead in the series. DPS Ben Palmieri (gamertag: Bas1lisk) held the most eliminations for the Bears at 6 followed by Martinson with 5. Betz had the highest healing in the game with 6,226.
Moving into the final map of this series we go to Suravasa. This was the closest map of the series with each point being contested to the last. The Bears were not able to get enough momentum and lose the map 3-1, leading to Buffalo completing the 3-0 sweep. Martinson once again led the Bears in Eliminations with 20 and Palmieri have 16. This time around Jones had the most healing in the game with 11,017 have over 2,500 over on the opposing support.
With the closing of the map the Bears tournament score goes to, 1-2.
Shawnee State Bears vs. York University: 0-3 Loss
Shawnee had another unfortunate showing in this fall vs York University.
Game one took place on Oasis with a close 1-2 loss. Palmieri would lead the team in both eliminations and damage with 38 and 10,412 respectively. Betz would lead the team with 11,775 healing.
Game 2 took the Bears to Eichenwalde where they fell again, this time 0-1. Martinson would lead the team in eliminations and damage with 7 and 3,319 respectively, while Betz would again lead in healing with 7,415.
Game 3 saw a 1-3 loss on the map Suravasa. In this final game Smith led the team in eliminations and damage with 10 and 7,056 respectively. Betz would once again lead in heals with 7,825.
Overwatch is back on September 23 with two more ABC matches, beginning at 2:00 and 3:30 PM.
