Rocket League Sweeps Seahawks

The Shawnee State Rocket League team faced off against the Seahawks of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The Bears keeping the ball rolling, were hot as they defeated UNCW 3-0 in the second week of the NACE battle and stayed perfect overall.

The Bears only took a minute and a half for Dyllan DeBruyne (gamertag: Duckworth) to score the first goal of the evening, but that did not last long as the Seahawks scored a minute later. With a minute-thirty left in the first game, Zach Ellis (gamertag: FireRaptor) put another ball in the back of the net extending the score to 2-1. SSU held this lead for the remainder of the game until in the last six seconds Ellis (FireRaptor) scored again, leaving the final score to game one, 3-1 in the Bear's favor.

Game two turned out to be an uphill fight for SSU as UNCW scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game. Ellis (FireRaptor) took a pass from DeBruyne (Duckworth) down the field and scored, starting the comeback for Shawnee. This goal leads to a series of goals from both sides and at the end of regulation, the score is tied 3-3 sending the two teams into overtime. Neither team finds the back of the net in the first overtime for the Bears this season. After two minutes of extended play, Ellis (FireRaptor) finds his fourth goal of the game, closing this one out 4-3.

The third game of the evening was different than the two prior. The Bears found a spark from DeBruyne (Duckworth) getting the first goal thirty seconds into the match. Two minutes later the Bears found another goal giving them a commanding 2-0 lead. Ellis (FireRaptor) did not want to be left out after taking a pass from DeBruyne and scoring the third goal of the game nine seconds later. With this momentum, DeBruyne (Duckworth) finds himself a hat trick, while extending the Bears lead to 4-0.

Rocket League's next game is against James Madison University on September 18th at 7 PM.
