Esports Recap: February 14 - 18

SSU Overwatch became MSC runners-up during the week of February 14. There were also several other esports matches, with Super Smash Bros. and League of Legends participating in competition. Here's the recap:

NACE Overwatch vs. Montgomery County Community College 3 – 0 W

This February 14 match was a swift sweep for the Bears. Game one was on Lijiang Tower, where the squad showed their prowess on the map with a nearly 11-minute game win. Gavin Jones (gamertag: Zephyr) earned top eliminations as Moira, with 39. He was followed closely by Benjamin Palmieri (gamertag: Bas1lisk) who held 33. Top assists went to Gwendolyn Bowman (gamertag: Obama) with 25 to her name on Lucio.

Game two was another swift win, this time on King's Row. The squad showed their teamwork, earning 100 combined eliminations over the match, while conceding 10 to their opponents. Top damage went to Palmieri with 5,024. Noah Hall (gamertag: CNNNFDDR) earned top mitigation overall with 6,828 as Reinhardt.

The final game was on Circuit Royal, where the squad completed their sweep. Hall earned top damage as Wrecking Ball with 10,435, followed by Zach Smith (gamertag: zsmitty2020) with 7,721 as Echo. Jones played both the offensive and team support roles, with 21 assists to go with his 24 eliminations.

MSC Overwatch vs. Keiser University 3 – 0 W

The Bears claimed a clean sweep in this February 17 MSC semifinal match. Game one was a 10-minute win on Lijiang Tower, where Smith held top overall eliminations with 36. Hall led the team in overall damage with 8,002. Hallie Harris (gamertag: Panchiko) had top assists overall with 31.

Game two was another win, this time on King's Row. The Bears claimed the win in just over 14 minutes, with Palmieri leading for overall damage and eliminations, with his 13,282 damage giving him 45 eliminations. Smith trailed closely with 40 eliminations to his credit. Harris had top healing with 9,022 to her name. The team claimed the third win on Colosseo to complete the sweep.

MSC Overwatch vs. Cumberland University 1 – 3 L

The Bears became MSC runners-up after falling to first-seed Cumberland Phoenixes 3 – 1 in the finals. Represented by Hall, Harris, Jones, Palmieri and Smith, the squad claimed the first game on Lijiang Tower. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, they were unable to earn another win on King's Row, New Queen Street or Circuit Royal.
