League of Legends Falls to Lawrence Tech

Last night, SSU League of Legends faced Lawrence Tech in the second round of national tournament play. Despite an early lead, the Bears fell 1 – 2, ending their postseason run.

Game one was firmly in control of the SSU squad, with the Bears claiming 26 eliminations and conceding only 14. The 28-minute game saw Aaron Allen (gamertag: Turtlestrike) lead in eliminations. The mid laner had 12 to his credit. Chase Minor (gamertag: ArcticWolf) had the highest creep score overall with 214. Brandon Reed (gamertag: SenpaiAtTheDisco) had the most assists this game, with 16.

Game two was an unfortunate loss for the Bears, as they lost despite a massive 10-elimination lead. While the squad was going for an objective, LTU snuck into the SSU base to claim the win. Minor and Allen led overall in eliminations, with 7 to their credit. PoYun Kuan (gamertag: ONAD) earned the most assists in the game with 9.

Coming off a tough loss, the Bears were unable to regain their momentum and fell once more in a 37-minute game. Reed and Dustin Simpkins (gamertag: breadlofe) led in eliminations, each earning 6. Allen led overall in assists with 11—just over half the team's overall eliminations were assisted by the mid laner. He also dealt nearly half the team's outgoing damage with 52,724. Minor led the game in creep score once more, totaling 296. This was followed closely by Reed's 287.

This loss eliminates SSU from postseason play, ending their fall season. They will return in the spring.
