Smash Bros. Pummels Mavericks

Last Thursday, SSU Super Smash Bros. Ultimate won a NACE 4v4 crew battle against Minnesota State – Mankato in a dominating 2-0 fashion.

Match one of the best-of-three only saw two members of the SSU roster in play. Benjamin Moushey (gamertag: Waywardness) cleared over half the stocks held by the Mavericks to open the performance. Moushey eliminated the first and second members of the Minnesota State – Mankato squad as well as one stock from player three, totaling 7 taken by the Zelda player. Following behind to clean up the Mavericks was Mark Schueler (gamertag: Atlas) as Pac Man. Schueler claimed two stocks from the third member of Minnesota State – Mankato's roster as well as the final three stocks to earn a total of 5 while only conceding 1.

Match two saw all four players from the Bears. Moushey led the charge again, claiming 5 stocks before being eliminated. Second up for the Bears was Christopher Mowery (gamertag: SpaceMiner). The Toon Link player earned 6 stocks from three players before conceding his final stock. Cleaning up the 2-0 for the Bears was Dustin Simpkins (gamertag: Breadlofe) as Roy. He made swift work of the Mavericks' final stock and earned the win within the first minute of play.

This puts SSU Super Smash Bros. up 2-0 in the NACE season. They'll be back Sept. 22 for another NACE match against Ashland University beginning at 7:00 PM.
