Monday, SSU League of Legends opened their Mid-South season against the University of Pikeville Bears. In the historically back-and-forth matchup, the unit were unable to gain the momentum and were swept 0 – 2.
The first loss was a hard-fought 35-minute game. Zach Farrar (gamertag: Cpt Wiley) led the unit in eliminations. He claimed six, doubling that of the next highest SSU players. Following him were Aaron Allen (gamertag: Turtlestrike) and Ethan Popp (gamertag: LegendaryEtan) who each earned three. Allen dealt the most damage among the team, competing for the top spot overall at 34567. Marco Bazaldua (gamertag: Icetruck) lived up to his support role, earning 11 assists on eliminations.
Game two was tough 29-minute loss for the unit, where only five eliminations were earned for Shawnee State opposed by 20 eliminations from the UPIKE Bears. Farrar once again led the team in eliminations, alongside Allen. Both SSU players earned two eliminations. Farrar also led the Shawnee State side in gold earned; he totaled 10,230. Following closely behind were Allen with 9,757 and Chase Minor (gamertag: ArcticWolf) with 9,327.
The varsity squad will return next week with another Mid-South match. They face Campbellsville on December 5, beginning at 7:00 PM. This match will be streamed on the MSC channel at: https://www.twitch.tv/officialEGF

SSU League of Legends Academy took on University of the Cumberlands in their Mid-South match Monday night and earned a clean 2 – 0 sweep.
Game one was a quick 21-minute win that saw exciting performances from Jared Robb (gamertag: Aatreon) who earned 11 eliminations. Nia Anderson (gamertag: KiloDestiny) fulfilled the support role with 21 assists to her credit. Brandon Reed (gamertag: SenpaiAtTheDisco) followed in second with 11 assists. Top gold went to Robb at 12,567, who was followed closely by teammate Darien Flannery (gamertag: HiddenSentinels) at 12,047.
The second win took the team 24 minutes to complete. Robb once again led the unit in eliminations, this time earning 13. Team-oriented play shone throughout the match, with nearly every player earning double-digit assists on the 26 total eliminations earned by the Bears. Flannery led the assists count with 14, Mahkaila Bivens (gamertag: Eurydichee) followed with 12, Reed earned 11, Anderson had 10 and Robb was credited with 8.
