Last Wednesday, SSU Call of Duty fell twice in a double header, with a 2-3 loss to James Madison University and an 0-3 loss to Ontario Tech University.
Match 1 vs. James Madison University 2-3 L
The Bears opened their night with a heartbreaking loss to the James Madison Dukes. In game one, Hardpoint on Tuscan, the unit struggled to gain control of the objective, falling 100 – 250. Michael Verdes (gamertag: Ernesto) led the unit on eliminations, earning 22. Teammate Austin Clark (gamertag: AyeC) followed closely with 17 eliminations, as well as the most objective time at 55 seconds.
Game two returned to Tuscan for Search and Destroy, where the Bears nabbed a 6 - 5 win in the final round to tie the match. Clark earned the most eliminations in this game, totaling 10 to his credit. Levi Clay (gamertag: Sliittle) held the objective, earning two plants to lead the team. Verdes earned the only objective defuse for the unit. Control took the Bears to Tuscan once again as they nabbed a 3-1 win to take the lead. Clark and Clay led the team on eliminations, with 35 and 27, respectively.
The next Hardpoint map was on Gavutu, where the Bears had an early lead but were unable to seal the match and fell 205 - 250. Kevin Ralph (gamertag: WhiteChicken) tied with Verdes for highest elimination streak at 4, while Clay and Clark spent most of their time on the objective. Clay spent 1:40 on the hill while Clark maintained the objective for 1:02.
The game culminated to one final game of Search and Destroy, where the unit pushed the game to a final round situation and fell in a heartbreaking 5 – 6 result. Ralph led the team in this final match, claiming 11 eliminations and dealing the most damage at 1281. Clark earned the highest streak in the final game, with a 4-elimination streak. The other three members of the Bears squad tied; each earned 3 eliminations before falling.
Match 2 vs. Ontario Tech University 0-3 L
After a grueling first match, the Bears dove right into the second half of the night. Match two began with Hardpoint on Tuscan, where the unit struggled to take control of the game. Despite their best efforts, they fell 138 – 250. Clark led the team for eliminations, credited with 21. Clay served as the anchor, spending 1:11 on the hill to earn points. Verdes earned the highest streak and most damage, earning a 4-elimination streak and dealing 2835 damage.
Game two took the team to Bocage for Search and Destroy. The Bears once again struggled to gain their footing and fell 1 – 6 to Ontario Tech. The unit earned one objective plant from Clay and one defuse from Clark. Verdes and Clark led on eliminations, with 4 each.
The final map of the night was Control on Berlin. Unfortunately, the unit ended on a tough loss, falling 1 – 3. The only member of the Bears to earn a positive K/D ratio was Ralph, who broke even at 23 eliminations and 23 deaths. He also earned the most damage for the unit at 3166. Clay once again maintained the objective and captured 8 segments.
