Rocket League Blue squad splits matches against Northeastern, MSE-D; Gray falls to Valpo

The Rocket League Blue and Gray squads collected mixed results in National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) competition as the Blue squad split its contests against Northeastern (3-2 loss) and the Milwaukee School of Engineering-Divinegon (3-0 win) in NACE play while the Gray squad fell to Valparaiso (3-0) in competition Tuesday evening.

Tuesday's results put the SSU Rocket League Blue unit at 1-1 on the year, while the Rocket League Gray squad fell to 0-1 with the loss.

Shawnee State Blue 3, Divine 0 (4-1, 6-2, 7-2)

In the latter match for the Blue squad, Shawnee State collected an easy match win over MSOE-Divinegon by posting 17 goals over the three-game set. PJ Fiscus (Gamertag: Fisci25) posted a team-best seven goals in the match and added two assists en route to a three-game best of 1,373 in the sweep. He notched 502 points in the second game and 495 points in the third contest to lead SSU to the win.

Ben Snyder, who posted six assists and four goals during the match, led the Bears in assists to help facilitate the offense -- and resulting victories. Snyder posted a team-best single-game score of 578 in the second affair, and notched a three-game score of 1,331.

Richard Randolph, who posted six goals and three assists on his own accord, rounded out the strong effort with a team-leading 445 in the first game by posting each of his three assists in the contest. He then led the team with four goals in the third affair en route to a 413.

Northeastern 3, Shawnee State Blue 2 (2-0, 3-4, 1-2, 2-1, 1-2)

In the first match of the evening for the Blue squad, Shawnee State fought valiantly but fell by a scant 3-2 margin to a strong Northeastern group. Four of the five games in the match were decided by a single goal.

Fiscus, who scored at least 340 points or more in every game, posted team-bests of four goals and three assists to garner a total score of 1,875. The sophomore was the high scorer for the Bears, in terms of points, in Games 1 (340), 2 (394), and 5 (379).

Snyder, who added in three goals and an assist, notched the highest score of the three-man unit in game three with his 539 and finished with 1,836 points overall while Richard Randolph notched a 523 to finish as the team's high scorer in the fourth game. Randolph finished with two goals and two assists in the match.

Valparaiso 3, Shawnee State Gray 0 (1-2, 1-3, 1-2)

In the Gray unit's matchup with Valparaiso, SSU gave the Crusaders a strong run, falling by scant margins that consisted of two goals or less in each of the three games played in the match.

David Lindamood (Gamertag: Lindamood626) scored a goal in the first contest while Kolton Bauer (Gamertag: K-Unit) notched a salvo in the third affair. Stephen Good (Gamertag: Spy) stopped three shots to keep the third and final contest of the match within SSU's grasp.

Additional Notes

The Rocket League Gray unit is back in action Thursday with a contest against Mount St. Joseph. Their contest begins at 8 p.m.
