Columbia, Ky. - Shawnee State men's and women's tennis teams drop matches to Lindsey Wilson 9-0 and 8-1. Regan Osborn (FR/Portsmouth, Ohio) breaks winless streak against the Blue Raiders.
Women's tennis started the day off with doubles on Thursday. SSU would start off with the tandem of Shelby Hay (JR/Louisa, Kentucky) and Regan Osborn who would be beaten by Parra and Sochia 8-0. The teams of Claire Carruthers (FR/Clarksville, Ohio)/Molly Stockton (FR/Cincinnati, Ohio) and Christa Harris (FR/Carlisle, Ohio)/Michaela Garner (SR/Hebron, Ohio) would each pick a game on Lindsey but ultimately fell 8-1.
In singles Shelby Hay began by facing Parra in a battle of 1's. Hay would take one game from Parra, but that would be all losing 6-1, 6-0. Regan Osborn would pick up a win for the lady Bears, the first since 2010 against the Blue Raiders. Osborn defeated Laci Lee convincingly 6-4, 6-2 ending the day for the women with an 8-1 loss.
SSU's men would gain a game in all three mathcups versus Lindsey Wilson. The teams of Jacob Freeland (FR/Marietta, Ohio)/Austin Hanshaw (FR/Chapmanville, West Virginia), Zack Fox (FR/Bow Mar, Colorado)/Carter Nolte (FR/Germantown, Ohio), Samuel Hall (SO/West Jefferson, Ohio)/Zach Colley (JR/Portsmouth, Ohio), all dropped their matches 8-1 to the Blue Raiders.
In singles Samuel Hall would pick up the only game for the Bears. Hall faced off with Espinoza of Lindsey, falling 6-0,6-1 ending the day for Shawnee with a 9-0 loss.
Shawnee will return to action on Saturday April 13, for senior day against the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) with doubles set to begin at 1:00 PM.
