Hilliard, Ohio – Shawnee State Rocket League goes 3-3 on the weekend as League of Legends went 2-1.
SSU's Gray Rocket League team would face off against Utah State in their first match of the day, falling 2-1 in a close game one. Utah State would then take the next two games to finish off the Bears 3-0. SSU was set for a matchup with Texas A&M in their second game, but the Aggies failed to show ultimately forfeiting and giving Shawnee the win.
Shawnee State's Blue team competed in a 2v2 non-standard double elimination tournament. Shawnee beat out "Venom Gaming" 2-0 in the first round of the tournament, making way to faceoff with Akron. The Bears would fall to the eventual champions 2-0. SSU defeated "Auto Bots" 2-0 in the second round of the loser's bracket setting up a match with local team "Way of the Road." The Bears lost 2-0 to end their tournament.
Shawnee's League of Legends Varsity team went head to head with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Recently promoted Shawn "The Humble Gamer" Turk made big moves early, jumpstarting SSU's attack and ultimately leading to victory as they would go on to defeat UW Platteville 2-1.
SSU's League of Legends JV1 team started off slow against California State Polytechnic University – Pomona, leading them to a 2-0 loss in game one of their doubleheader. Game two was a win, as Temple failed to present their team.
Shawnee State esports will face off with Ashland University (Ohio) on Tuesday January 29 at 8:00 p.m. in a Tespa Overwatch varsity season matchup.
