Carson Roney Named All-MSC, Six Players Earn MSC All-Academic

Bowling Green, Ky. – Carson Roney (JR/Waverly, Ohio) was named second team All-Mid-South Conference at the Mid-South Conference Awards Banquet held on Wednesday night.

Roney was able to play a full season in 2018 after an injury-plagued 2017, and returned to have an outstanding season. The junior middle hitter had 290 kills and led the league with 125 blocks. Roney was one of three players in the Mid-South to have over 100 blocks. She was 23rd in the NAIA in blocks on the season. The award is Roney's first career MSC All-Conference honor.

Shawnee State also had six players named Mid-South Conference All-Academic. Elaina Davenport (JR/Newark, Ohio), Carson Isaac (SO/Pickerington, Ohio), Madison Knipp (SR/Beaver, Ohio), Stacia Martin (JR/Indianapolis, Indiana), Alexis Palazzo (FR/Marietta, Ohio) and Tyanna Smith (SR/Bowling Green, Ohio) all earned the Mid-South Conference's academic award. To win the award, a student-athlete must be in at least their third semester of higher education, and must have maintained at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA.

Shawnee State volleyball takes on Campbellsville in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Thursday. First serve between the Bears and Tigers is set for 5:00pm at Bowling Green High School.
