Portsmouth, Ohio – Shawnee State volleyball fell in Mid-South Conference play on Saturday afternoon, losing to (RV) University of the Cumberlands in straight sets, 3-0 (19-25, 15-25, 13-25).
The Bears were unable to stop the Cumberlands attack for most of the match. Cumberlands had double digit kills in all three sets, recording 17 in the first and 16 in the second and third. The duo of Jennifer Philpot and Megan Ganser put up 14 and 11 kills respectively for the Patriots.
Shawnee State were led by Miranda Clark in kills with seven. Lauren Helbig added five kills, with Brittany Mounts notching three assisted blocks. Deanna Smith recorded 18 assists.
With the loss, the Bears fall to 3-11, and 0-4 in Mid-South Conference play. Cumberlands improves to 11-4, including a 3-1 conference mark.
The Bears are next in action on the road on Tuesday, September 20th when they travel to Georgetown for another Mid-South Conference match. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
