PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Volleyball) – Shawnee State University faced off against an elite #3 ranked Lindsey Wilson squad in their home opener. SSU fell behind early in the first set by a score of 5-0 and never were able to gain a rhythm, as Lindsey Wilson defeated the Bears in three straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-7 and 25-10.
The Bears were led in kills by Lauren Helbig (SR/Mansfield, Ohio), who finished with eight. Shawnee State's record moves to 2-3 with a 0-1 conference record. SSU returns to action next Tuesday August 30th, where they travel to take on conference opponent Pikeville. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
